New Dragon Quest VIII Details Revealed Square Enix has revealed some new bits of information regarding Dragon Quest VIII in the upcoming issue of the Japanese publication V-JUMP. The Level 5-developed PlayStation 2 title will feature various field map environments ranging from sandy beaches to rivers to snowy mountains. The backgrounds' looks will also change during day and night time. Furthermore, the newly implemented command "nakama" (fellow) will allow players to engage in conversations with their fellow party members. New Dragon Quest VIII Details Revealed Square Enix has revealed new information regarding the highly anticipated eighth installment of its popular Dragon Quest series, the Level 5-developed Dragon Quest VIII: Sora to Umi to Daichi to Norowareshi Himegimi. During battle, the game's protagonist will be able to perform special attacks with his sword. One such special attack which has been confirmed so far, is a fire-based move dealing massive damage to opponents. The physically powerful Yangus is wielding a big sickle in battle and treats the protagonist as a friend and calls him his older brother. The question is whether the bold guy from the mountains has another face as well. The female lead and magic user Jessica seems to come from a distinguised family, however as one screenshot highlighting a quarrel with a female that looks like her mother suggests, she is not really happy with that fact. The silver-haired Kucool is a member of the Temple Knights, however considering that he is wearing a different uniform than the unit's ordinary members, he must be of particular importance. The knight not only uses his sword in battle, but also the magic of a priest. The game's fifth character Tred does not take part in battles, but is in charge of coach and item management.
