Tales of the Abyss More information has recently been unveiled about the next addition to Namco's acclaimed Tales Of series; Tales Of The Abyss. This news is quite the revelation considering both Tales of Legendia and Tales of Rebirth haven't even been released yet meaning Tales Of fans now have 3 new instalments to look foward too! Tales of the Abyss takes place 2000 years ago. With the discovery of the Seventh Phoneme, people were able to identify the existence the Planet's Memory, a record of the planet's life from its birth to its death. A great war surrounding this record broke out on the planet of Auldurant and, over time, caused damage to the planet itself, giving birth to a poisonous gas. The people of the planet, following the prophecy of Urea Juei, a sound expert who could read the Planet's Memory, sealed away the poisonous gas deep within the planet in an effort to avoid extinction. Time passes, and we come to the modern day world which is divided between two great countries, the Kingdom of Kimraska Ranbaldia and the Markuto Empire. A fragile peace exists between these two nations. However, the people of the world are actually not followers of the kings of these lands, but of the prophecies, known as "Scores," of the Rolerai Cult, who preserve the prophecy of Urea. The game is being developed by Namco's Tales Studio and produced by Makoto Yoshidumi, the produce of Tales of Symphonia. The games artwork is being designed by none other than Fujishima Kousuke best known for his work on the anime Ah! My Goddess! Tales of the Abyss marks the 10th Anniversary of Namco's Tales Of franchise, which debutted with Tales of Phantasia on the SNES way back on December 15th 1995, to mark the 10th Anniversary Tales of the Abyss will be release on December 15th 2005 in Japan. The Tales Of franchise is highly popular inside Japan, however outside of Japan sales have been mediocre, as such a release date is still yet to be announced outside of Japan, however given the recent success of Tales of Symphonia on the Nintendo Gamecube and earlier Tales of Destiny on the PSone, a release date is expected to be given sometime nearer to the Japanese release.
