New Final Fantasy Games on Xbox 360 and PS3 In an intervew with Reuters Japan, Youichi Wada, the president of Square-Enix talked about the possibilities of have both Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy on both Next-Gen Consoles. Although the final decision for a single console to get both series would not be happening until E3 2006 in May, currently all 3 next generation consoles will be getting a Final Fantasy game. Microsoft's Xbox 360 will be getting Final Fantasy XI, Nintendo's Revolution will be getting a Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles as well as a Crystal Chronicles for the Nintendo DS and the Sony's Playstation 3 will be getting a yet unnamed Final Fantasy, possibly Final Fantasy 13. Early mistranslations of the Reuters article made it seem as if Final Fantasy 13 would be developed for both consoles but this has been confirmed by Square not to be true. Should Square-Enix decided to do games for both consoles, this would mean that Hironobu Sakaguchi would have a a rival. The creator of Final Fantasy recently left Square-Enix to set up his own company called Mistwalker and was immediately searched out by Square to do games exclusively for the Xbox 360. Developing RPG games with other former Square employee's who set up their own company such as Nobuo Uematsu (Smile Please), Kazushige Nojima and (Stellavista LTD), Akihiko Yoshida and several others who have left Square and were recruited by Mistwalker, should Square decide to make games for the Xbox 360, it should be interesting to see if new Microsoft console, which has always had low interest in Japan, gets a bigger welcome in Japan with so many well known and respected developers working on it.
