Dirge of Cerberus English Version changes and release date
Last week at the annual E3 convention, Square announced differences that the English localized versions of Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy 7 would feature.
Most noticeable is the omission of the online multiplayer mode originally featured in the Japanese release of the game - it has been omitted solely because of the small fanbase the PlayOnline system has outside of Japan.
In it's place Square have added in multiple extra treats for English-language players - namely, Vincent himself now moves faster, has a double-jump and can shoot in mid-air. This should remedy some of the complaints of slow gameplay in the original version.
When it comes to bonus modes, Square has gone the distance - not only is there a brand new Very Hard mode featuring 40 (that's right, 40) brand-new missions for veteran players, but completing this missions will unlock bonus artwork, sound and character model galleries.
Additionally, Gackt fans rejoice, he has been kept in the game, even though he isn't very well-known outside of Japan - seems Square didn't want to mess with the Gackt fanboys and fangirls
Square not only showed a few new English version images before the show started, but also announced that Dirge of Cerberus will release on the PS2 in the US in August, and still no word on a PAL release.
