Chocobo Breeding to feature in Final Fantasy 11
Fans are finally getting the chance to do something they've wanted to do for a long time in Final Fantasy 11, the ability to breed their own Chocobo's.
In the next version update for Final Fantasy 11 - Treasures of Aht Urhgan will include Chocobo breeding, which last made an appearance in Final Fantasy 7. Players wishing to breed their own Chocobo should be happy to know this isn't going to a quick thing. After a breeder acquires a Chocobo egg (which has yet to be explained), the egg can take from 1 to 3 months to hatch and will require daily attention for it to hatch. The developers have gone one step further and have even given each chocobo it's own unique DNA and each chocobo should be as unique as it's breeder/trainer.
Chocobo's will be kept in a Chocobo Stable and if you aren't able to attend the Chocobo everyday due to school or work, a yet to be announced fee can be used to pay a stable hand. Once the Chocobo reaches a certain age, you'll be able to mate it with a Chocobo of the opposite sex and within an age. Due to the uniqueness of each chocobo any baby chocobo which is successfully bread may end up bearing no similarity to it's parents.
It also doesn't stop there, developers are also working how to have contests with the Chocobos such as races and other events.
The update containing Chocobo's will be available sometime this month.
