Final Fantasy XIII releases in Japan, launch images
Today, December 17, marks the official launch of Final Fantasy 13 across its home nation of Japan, and additionally, megabucks for Square.

Apparently, for the launch events the biggest lines only reached 350 people, although the die-hard fans queued from 9:45pm the evening before. The launch event featured various guests involved with the development of the title, most notably Yoshinori Kitase (Producer of the game, Director of FF7 and FF8), Yoichi Wada (Square-Enix President) and theme-song artist Sayuri Sugawara.

Square have announced that they have currently shipped 1.8 million copies of the game nationwide, although sales figures have not become available yet. The game releases on March 9 in the United States of America, the United Kingdom and Australia.
