The Black Mages III: Darkness and Starlight After more than three years since their previous album, "The Skies Above", Uematsu's rock ensemble is returning! This third album, entitled The Black Mages III: Darkness and Starlight, will feature two discs - the first will be their usual Final Fantasy re-arrangements, and their second disc will centre around Japanese mythology. You can check out the new album's page here! The official site includes a special trailer, and a demo of the album - their arrangement of the famous Final Fantasy 7 Opening, 'Bombing Mission'! The album will be released through Dog Ear Records, and will be releasing on March 19th, 2008, a massive day for Japanese music, with at least two other major albums releasing on the same day - plenty of competition! Nobuo Uematsu Confirms Third Black Mages Album In a recent Interview, the popular and respected composer Nobuo Uematsu has confirmed that his Final Fantasy remix band, the Black Mages will be releasing a third album. Although he did not go into details, Uematsu said that the band will produce their third ablum later this year. He also went on to say that there are so much things he wants to try out with the band, which he compared to a mountain of ideas, multiple albums can be released. Unfortunately he didn't give any timeline for when these could happen as himself and the other Black Mage members are quite busy day to day. Uematsu himself also said that he is currently thinking about a worldwide orchestra concert tour and there are many people around the world demanding concerts so it is difficult to adjust schedules. First Black Mages Concert Confirmed for May Square Enix today announced, that the company is planning a new Final Fantasy concert for mid-May, just before the beginning of this year's edition of the Electronic Entertainment Expo E3. Titled More Friends: Music from Final Fantasy: With Special Guests, it will feature performances by the World Festival Symphony Orchestra and the CSUF University Singers conducted by Arnie Roth, The Black Mages and additional guest performers whose identity remains a secret for the time being. The concert in the Universal Amphitheatre on May 16th will mark the first time that Nobuo Uematsu's rock band The Black Mages will perform outside Japan. Tickets for the concert have gone on sale today at all Ticketmaster outlets, the main and Citywalk box offices of the Universal Amphitheatre.
