Dissidia: Final Fantasy release statistics Wondering why we haven't been reporting on Dissidia over the last few days? Well, that would be because the game is out now in Japan!
How well is it selling, you ask? Well, Square and Enterbrain are reporting massive sales of 350,000 units shipped on its first day alone. In other words, the game is a rather significant success.
In related new, we can confirm that Dissida: Final Fantasy will be released in the United States in mid-2009.
The above battle appears to be some sort of boss encounter or story-based battle; Tidus does battle with his father, Jecht, in an arena that is based around one of their encounters in Final Fantasy 10. Also, note that the battle music is the theme composed by Uematsu for the afformentioned original!

Obviously, as it runs in at only 14 seconds, there isn't much to tell here. The game's looking great, Famitsu enjoyed it, and its been in the works for at least two years. It has 'hit maker' written all over it!

Although the cutscenes don't particularly reveal much, the music sounds quite soothing, and the gameplay has a definite fun-factor present, that's undeniable. We'll wait and judge for ourselves when the final version is released.

Shantotto in Dissidia: Final Fantasy Think you know all the characters in Dissidia: Final Fantasy? Think again! Yet another addition has been revealed.
Shantotto from Final Fantasy 11 has been updated by Nomura and is included here in all his glory. This begs the question; will there be any more characters from FF11? Or perhaps even FF12 cast members? We'll have to wait another two weeks to see.

As you can see, Square have pulled out all the stops in marketing this 20th Anniversary celebration of all things Final Fantasy. You've got your 'Potion' drinks, special edition versions, soundtracks (there's a different cover for First Press orders), and of course the officially branded PSP. Most, if not all of these things will be limited edition, so if you want them you'd better get in fast!
Dissidia: Final Fantasy will be releasing across Japan on December 18, 2008. Still no official word on a Western release, but you'll know as soon as we know.
