Yoshinori Kitase talks further about Final Fantasy VII A Final Fantasy 7 remake seems to be the biggest demand on fans' lists these days, and so original director Kitase speaks about the possibility!
After a quick mention of his most recent title, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 (which he produced), he goes on to talk about the demand and possibilities of seeing as remake of the iconic original.
"My feelings are that if a remake were to work well then all the core members of the original team must be reassembled, all the artists and designers.
The problem is that, although all of us have an idea of what a remake should be and how to do it, organising such a thing right now is logistically very difficult. All the different members are now involved in very new, very large projects like Final Fantasy 13 and those projects are going to take a while.
Maybe, when all those games are finished then we can look at doing something like that.
Of course, that said we came up with the idea for Crisis Core in just two days. It was a case of 'this is what we want to do, so let's do it'. So, you can definitely expect the probability of something spontaneous happening at some point, but it's hard to predict."
So there you have it folks - it is indeed still a possibility, but a rare one at that. Maybe, after Final Fantasy 13 is completed, things might move foward...

Director of Crisis Core talks about Final Fantasy VII remake Hajime Tabata, the director of Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7, recently spoke to PTOM about the possibilities of a remake.

PTOM: So that Final Fanasy 7 remake that you've said will never happen: Why? Tabata: I think it is because the conditions that are necessary to remake the game have not been met at this time. The possibility for a remake may become greater if, for instance, the schedueles of the original members of the Final Fantasy 7 development team, such as Kitase (Yoshinori, director) and Nomura, (Tetsuya, designer/story) open up.
So there you have it fans. A Final Fantasy 7 remake can't currently go ahead because the original team is currently extremely busy with other projects. If, however, these schedueles would begin to free up, there may be hope!

Petition for Final Fantasy VII remake hits a massive 15000 Usually these Petition Online things don't go too far before they full flat from a lack of attention - not so in this case...
You can click here to check out the petition, and sign it for yourselves!
Yep, the numbers are in - 15000 individual votes for a Final Fantasy 7 remake on this single petition. Although this changes nothing, it adds fuel to the remake fire - with Square's new focus being remakes and re-releases, one would wonder why they won't go ahead with this... it's obviously a strong marketing strategy, seeing as Final Fantasy 13 has pretty much disappeared off the map.
We'll keep you updated on the subject. Don't forget - Tokyo Game Show next month, people!

Final Fantasy VII remake flat-out denied by Nomura Nomura says that Final Fantasy 7 remake is a no-go; Kitase re-inforces the fact.
Sadly, the word on the street is true folks - the Final Fantasy 7 remake isn't going ahead any time soon. Speaking with the most recent issue of Dorimaga, Tetsuya Nomura set the record straight: "It appears that there are often overseas rumors like 'Are you currently developing a VII remake?' My apologies, but we're absolutely not making [such a game]."
Yoshinori Kitase (the director of the original FF7, as well as FF8) was quick to chime in: However, when we ask the staff who are making FFXIII why they entered the company, there are many people who say, 'I'm an FFVII fan, I also want to do a remake.'" Nomura then pointed out that the game has such a large fan-base that, although nothing is planned at this time (in any way, shape or form), they "don't want to proclaim 'the end'" yet.
So in short: no Final Fantasy 7 remake, and if it does go ahead, it won't be seen on shelves for many, many years. Sorry folks.

Final Fantasy VII most demanded remake at Square Party! What Square-Enix remake to SE Party attendees want the most? Take a guess!
Yep, Final Fantasy 7 is once again regarded as the major desire amongst all fans attending, taking the vote with a high percentage over Final Fantasy VI (which was in second).
At the Party, Square had a huge Community Message Board, where attendees could stick post-it-notes with their most desired remake written on, and Square promised to announce at the end of the show the winner. It came as no surprise to those in attendance that Final Fantasy 7 won out.
Still no word on what this means though - don't expect to see that remake any time soon, at least.
