That's right European fans, tomorrow you and the rest of your nearby brethren (United Kingdom we're looking at you!) will be playing Motomu Toriyma's DS centrepiece Final Fantasy 12: Revenant Wings, the sequel to Yasumi Matsuno's original PS2 masterpiece Final Fantasy 12.
The game is presented in the guise of a Tactical-Action-RPG, a new genre to be sure, and takes place a year after the epic events of the original title. Players can expect to reprise the roles of Vaan and Penelo, as well as Ashe, Balthier, Fran and Basch along the way.
Final Fantasy 12: Revenant Wings will be available in stores across the UK and Europe on February 15, 2008. We'll update you if an Australian announcement is publicly made, otherwise expect to see it by the end of the month.
The trailer pretty much speaks for itself - the game is, as with all other International FF titles, a Japan exclusive at the moment, and its most prominent change is the fact that it uses the English dub now. Two characters that were previously NPCs are now fully-fledged party members: Larsa and Vossler join the party in completeness, with full customisation abilities.
Speaking of customisations, the job system has been completely revamped to a new 'Zodiac' system - each character now has separate sections of the job system, represented by each part of the zodiac mythos.
As for other extras, there's nothing else majorly different. Espers are now all controllable by the player, and pressing L1 will activate a 'double speed mode' for those who think the game is just a little on the slow side. There's also the new 'Trial Mode' which will be like a survival kind of game facing off against monsters on a hundred different maps; and another mode of play has yet to be announced.
The game will be released in Japan on August 9th, 2007. It is highly unlikely the title will see a release outside of Japan, but we'll keep you updated.

Yes that's right folks, Japan was just treated to Final Fantasy 12: Revenant Wings on their DSs, and the game has been received well by critics and fans alike!
Developing upon the rich history of Final Fantasy 12, Revenant Wings takes place about a year after the original title, expanding on characters (and relationships) of the original, as well as delving into a new plotline focusing around new characters and species.
Still no word on an English release for the game, but expect it announced very soon!
Coincidentally, word has gone around that a new sequel is already in the works, a complete sequel if you will. The secret ending of Revenant Wings will give fans a good idea of events that will take place in the next Final Fantasy 12 sequel, which will be much more major than Revenant Wings.
During this same announcement, Square also revealed that a Star Ocean IV was in the works!
New Final Fantasy XII RW Espers The game's release is just around the corner, and in lue of it we have some more Espers to show you!
Currently, we have no official word on any of them - one is believed to be Ramuh (the lightning man), but the other two are still completely un-identified. We'll get back to you if anything new regarding them pops up!
As for the sword, well... we can only but guess for now!
Final Fantasy 12: Revenant Wings releases for Nintendo DS in Japan on April 27 - two days from now! Keep tuned in for updates as the game is released!
There's not a lot we can point out here without in-depth translations. It's basically showing off the new graphics system in depth, and delving into some of the new characters such as Rikkii (Ricky), Eruza (Elza) and Razu (Raz).
Later down the page, the picture of a strange one-eyed monster, a young boy with lightning surrounding him and an old man are part of some new monster evolution chain of sorts. The first is called Rimii, the second Raiden (the Japanese lightning god) and the third Rimuu.
The Summons of Final Fantasy XII RW Recently we reported that Shiva would be starring in the Toriyama-developed FF12 sequel, now she has some friends!
In the original Final Fantasy 12 (developed over a 5-year period by a team lead by Yasumi Matsuno [FF Tactics] and Hiroyuki Ito [FF6/9]), the summons system was overhauled into a new version of FF6's 'esper' system, which was now comprised of 13 summons based around the zodiac.
Fast foward to 2007, and the Motomu Toriyama (FF10/13) sequel to the orginal smash hit is once again taking the system to new levels. Not only do the previously reported Shiva family star in the game, but previous legends Bahamut and Gilgamesh are also going to make an appearance.
Check back in the coming weeks as the game is released in Japan on April 27. We'll inform you of any large developments in the world of Ivalice - the Alliance will never be the same after Revenant Wings heats things up!
Nothing extremely new this time around - some old FF12 music is sampled again, Nono is seen... looking like he did in Tactics Advance. Strange resource-management-esque actions have also been implemented...
More on this as we have it!
Final Fantasy 12: Revenant Wings for DS releases on April 26 in Japan - no word still on an English release.
After watching that, you'll have noticed the prescence of a couple of select FMVs - notably an Imperial fleet of airships flying towards the screen, and new versions of Ashe and an armoured Basch! This probably means that during the game, short FMVs will be played occasionally, rather than just an intro and an ending.
Good news for DS RPG-players, your technology is steadily advancing!
Also notice in this trailer that more sprited from FF Tactics Advance are being used - with so much content from that title being used here, what will FF Tactics A2 be?
Final Fantasy 12: Revenant Wings will be releasing on Japanese DSs April 26. Stay tuned for word on an English release.
More on Revenant Wings Just when we thought we'd seen all there is to see on FF12's sequel, Revenant Wings, more seeps out of the cracks...
Not much in the way of new material here - artwork of the winged Judge, some pictures of returning characters, different Clan members that have been used previously in FF Tactics Advance, the new Esper, Carbuncle. The usual fair.
Final Fantasy 12: Revenant Wings flies into a Japanese DS near you on April 27th. No word yet on an English release.
Look to the sky - Revenant Wings! More media regarding Toriyama's upcoming FF12 sequel has surfaced, this time a new trailer and scan!
As can be seen, the game is pretty much completed now, and is ready for its April 27th release in Japan. Note the new winged Judge character - I wasn't able to translate his name because my Katakana's rusty, but I'm pretty sure what's listed in the text boxes is more like a title, or else it says 'Judge' before the name.
Final Fantasy 12: Revenant Wings (written and directed by FF10/FF10-2/FF13 veteran Motomu Toriyama) releases for DS in Japan on April 27. More news on it as we have it.
