Before Cloud departed for Midgar, Tifa made Cloud promise to rescue her should she ever be in danger. When Shin-Ra sent SOLDIER to investigate the monsters invading Nibelheim and the Mako Reactor there, Tifa acted as their guide to the Reactor. However, the situation quickly became perilous: Tifa's father was a victim of Sephiroth's destruction of Nibelheim. From that moment Tifa formed a lasting grudge against Sephiroth, however when she attempted to assail Sephiroth, she was cut by his blade. “Whenever I'm in trouble, my hero will come and rescue me.” - Tifa Fulfilling his promise, Cloud arrived and saved Tifa. Afterward, Tifa went to Midgar where she opened 7th Heaven, a bar that became the underground headquarters for AVALANCHE which was a rebel group she joined to fight against Shin-Ra. Before accompanying Cloud, Most of her time and effort went into managing 7th Heaven and looking after Barret’s adopted daughter, Marlene. Tifa joined Cloud's efforts to defeat Sephiroth and save the Planet when he arrived in Midgar. "Words aren't the only thing that tell people what you're thinking." - Tifa Tifa is undeniably beautiful and though she possesses great strength and technique in the martial arts, she is emotionally fragile and unable to cope with hurting others even if it means a massive sacrifice on her part. She is rather introverted and often lacks the spontaneity and badgering personality that Aeris puts forth simply because she does not think to cause commotion regarding the “love triangle” between herself, Aeris and Cloud. She is often the “damsel in distress,” and even though her love for Cloud is limitless, she is extremely uncomfortable expressing herself regarding her love him - even if it means acting unaware under certain circumstance. She is a strong believer in what is just and will make a strong impression of that. Above all, Tifa is an extremely caring woman who would give her life for the greater good and for the needs of others.
