Final Fantasy VII Walkthrough – Nibleheim
Items: Two Luck Sources, Elixir, Platinum Fist, Turbo Ether Silver M-phone, Enemy Launcher, Magic Source, Twin Viper, Cosmo Memory Sniper CR, Rune Blade, Plus Barrete, Powersoul, Elixir, Counter Attack Materia, Elemental Materia, All Materia, Odin Materia. When you arrive you may find something's a little... off. It's still there! According to Cloud memory this town burned to the ground five years ago but when you enter the townsfolk will have no idea what you're talking about when you mention the fire. Go into the houses and you'll see black cape/blobs mumbling about Sephiroth, talk to everyone and some will give you an item.
Now you can go to Tifa's piano and play the tune (code: X, Sq, Tri, R1+Tri, R1+ Sq, X, Sq, Tri, R1+X, O, X, Sq, X) to get her ultimate limit break now if you want, I think you have to play it both here and in the flashback, however I'm not sure so I just hope you've played it twice to be sure. Once you've done everything you need head over to the mansion, here you can get Vincent Valentine.
Inside the mansions the battles are above average difficultly for random encounters so it's an ideal place to gain exp. Getting Vincent is a rather complicated process, to do it the long way you'll have to look for clues placed in notes on the floor. The first note should lead you to thinking that there is a person trapped in the basement; the second mentions a safe and the time you have to open it (20 seconds).
There are also hints telling you the safe combination in the various rooms, these are the clues:
- Look for the lid of the box with the most oxygen (this is the treasure chest in the atrium) - Behind the Ivory's short of tea and ray. (Which is the floor near the piano) - The creek in the floor near the chair on the second floor. - Then to the left five steps, up nine steps, left two steps, and up six steps (which is a loose floorboard near the chair in the bedroom upstairs, follow these directions and search) - Missing clue which sis written in invisible ink so look at the clue sheet at the location where the dial 4 clue should be.
All these clues are leading you to the location of various digits of the safe combination.
If you can't be bothered figuring out the combination, here it is:
Right to 36 Left to 10 Right to 59 Right to 97
(Note: if you don't want to get him yet, you can always do it later if you want, I did)
You simply don't have time to make mistakes on this but you have unlimited tries so keep at it, once you get it right you'll have to fight a boss.
Boss: Lost Number It's up to you which side of the monster you decide to focus on first. If your party has magic resisting accessories and weapons equipped defeat the purple side first because when you do the red side will start using powerful magic. If your party has a high physical defence in general defeat the red side first and the purple will use strong physical attacks. This monster can be paralysed here so, if you have it, use Aeris and her Seal Evil limit break which will consequently stop the monster attacking for a while, making this fight easier. Summons and powerful magic are effect but if you don't have the powerful stuff equipped just pummel away at it with physical attacks.
For your trouble you get Odin Summon materia, which is powerful and comes in handy along with the basement key. Once you have this key head down the spiral staircase behind the hidden wall and head along the corridor when you reach the bottom. You'll see a door along the way, which you can use the newly acquired key to unlock. Go into the room and press circle on the coffin which will open suddenly and Vincent will come flying out, when you talk to him about Sephiroth he'll go back in his coffin, press circle on it again and he'll end up telling you his name (you can name him if you want), he will ask you if you've seen Lucretia, Sephiroths' mother, talk about how he dislikes the Shinra then go back to sleep.
Don't worry about this, just leave and go to the library where Sephiroth will be waiting for you, he'll ask Cloud questions concerning the "reunion" and tells Cloud to go to Mount Nibel. He'll fly out of the room and throw some Destruct Materia at you for good measure.
Leave the library and head up the corridor where Vincent will stop you (if you've done the safe opening etc.) and join your party permanently. Leave the mansion and head out of town the down north pathway (like you did in the flash back), you will be on the world map, in-between the Mako mountains and Nibleheim, just head into the cave opening. The pathway through the mountains is pretty straightforward and looks more complicated that it is, make sure you get all the items on the way and head to the bridge that broke five years ago.
After the bridge there will be a place that looks like an abandoned factory of sorts, where you enter there will be five different pipes which you can jump down later, but first climb down the ladder and let down the folding one, this will allow you to return to the pipes once you jump down one of them, now head back to the top level, go down chute one last as this brings you face to face with the big boss. Also Pipes three and five are pretty useless and just take you down a level.
Pipe two leads to a ledge where you can get Powesoul, one of Tifa's weapons, which becomes more powerful when her Hp is low. Pipe Four Brings you near a chest containing an All materia.
Once you've got all the items save at the save point and avoid the boss/creature. Go down the path leading in a slightly more southerly direction and you'll arrive at a place near to where Cloud fell in the flashback, this cave is small, investigate and pass the Mako reactor, taking the door behind it. Now you'll have to fight a boss, make sure you have Enemy skill equipped as this beast uses Trine a powerful Lightening element attack which can be learned as an enemy skill.
Boss: Materia-Keeper This, like the GI monster is a toughie so make sure you have Ramuh and Shiva summons equipped along with Lightening and Ice materia. Remove your gravity materia to make way for these essentials because the monster absorbs gravity attacks.
Watch out for its Trine attack (make sure you have somebody equipped with enemy skill material as this is a useful attack to have in your arsenal). Trine attacks all of your members and is probably its most powerful attack; it will nail each member for about 490+hp materia depending on each characters magic resistance etc, its other irregular attacks will take 200+hp plus from your party. For winning you get a Jem Ring
The Materia-keeper will drop some Counter-Attack materia, which can be useful, so I advise you equip it even if characters dont counter attack every time. Now head out of the mountains and towards Rocket Town, don't bother going for the Buggy because it isn't far away and you get the Tiny Bronco after this anyway. You'll know which ones Rocket Town... it has a rocket sticking out of it.
