Final Fantasy VIII Pocketstation

The game on the Pocketstation is known as "Odakake Chocobo". However in the game, you play as a Cochocobo, not Chocobo. In many screens, you'll also see a 'Cactuar', which is a character from previous Final Fantasy games.
By downloading game data onto the Pocketstation from a Playstation with Final Fantasy VIII, players can enjoy a Chocobo growing game. In the game, the player gets to walk around a Cochocobo through 100 varieties of maps, either manually with the arrow buttons, or automatically. The game has a number of events, 3 of which have been revealed so far. Also, players with Pocketstation can make their Cochocobos fight with each other.

Event 1 - Battle

Enemy vs. Cochocobo

The number highlighted in orange is the character's life - left is the enemy's (16), and right is the cochocobo's (25). The two numbers highlighted in blue are the active time meters. Each character can attack when their meter reaches zero. In this case, the enemy has 6 seconds left, and the chocobo is currently attacking, inflicting 9 damage. By gaining levels, Cochocobo's hit point will increase. Also, by winning battles, some positive effect occurs upon the Cochocobo, but it has not been revealed as of yet.

Event 2 - Item

Sabotender (Saboten Means Cactus in Japanese)

At times, the Cochocobo will meet with a Sabotender. By meeting the Sabotender, the player can recieve a gift. However, what the gift is cannot be seen until the player puts the Pocketstation into the Playstation and returns the Cochocobo in the Final Fantasy VIII game.

Event 3 - Mumba

Status Window. Top: AP - Bottom: ID#

In the beginning, the Cochocobo has only one attack point. However, if an event happens, and the Cochocobo meets with a Mumba, tha attack points will increase. It has not yet been revealed what the ID# at the bottom is for.
