Final Fantasy VIII Walkthrough – Deling and Sorceress Edea
Once in the city, go to the Generals Mansion and give the guard the I.D number. He'll ask for single digits first, tens second, hundreds third; therefore you'll need to give him the number backwards. Go into the mansion (saving on the way in). Once inside you'll find yourself in a small reception room, speak to Rinoa and she'll tell you that this is her house (and the general is her father) before complaining about him and going to fetch him. When the general arrives he'll tell you that the mission is too dangerous for Rinoa, You'll leave the mansion and he'll explain the plan to you. It turns out you'll be split into two parties- Squall (as leader) and Irvine in one, Quistis (as leader), Zell and Selphie in the other. Once he has finished his explanation you'll be able to roam the city, so do what ever you want. When you've finished go back to the mansion.
Save your game at the save point outside and enter. The two teams will separate in the reception area. When Squall and Irvine leave Rinoa will enter and talk to Quistis about an Odine bangle. Quistis will shoot her down (I wonder why...) and leave. On the way pick up the Thundaras from the draw point and follow the general to the gates, talk to him and Squall and Irvine will get into position. Now you'll see a scene where Quistis wants to go back to Rinoa. So go back to the mansion. When you enter the scene will change and you'll see a cut-scene of Rinoa and her father, she figures out that he's going to lock her in a flees, after she does Quistis and the gang enter and get locked in instead.
You'll have control of Rinoa now so save your game then confirm on the truck and start to climb the crates. Once on the roofs make your way across and then climb up the ladder, along another roof until you leap over the gap. Now Rinoa will be where the sorceress is. She'll speak about a gift for Edea and will approach her; upon this she will be possessed and won't be able to give her the bangle. You'll see and FMV of the sorceress revealing her face and a cut-scene in which Edea will show her true colours by killing the president. Another FMV and two summoned monsters will be created to attack Rinoa.
Now you will regain control of Quistis, they are trapped in the room. On the wall is a painting containing the clue to getting out of here- on it is a picture of a woman holding a glass. So grab a glass from the cabinet and place it in the hand of the stone statue set into the wall to reveal a secret passage. Save your game at the save point and head down the stairs to the ladder. Climb it and you'll be in the sewers. Junction yourself in preparation for the random encounters and walk onto the bridge. Jump onto the waterwheel and make your way over to the entrance, head through the gate (opened with X) then continue along the narrow pathway until you hear the ceremony starting. Squall and Irvine now seize the chance to run for the gates to help Rinoa.
You end up at the same area you just was with Rinoa so use the save point again and follow the same path you took with her until you arrive at the platform where the dead president is lying. Junction yourselves using the Junction exchange and head up the few steps to the side of his body and you'll be in the room Rinoa was originally attacked. She is lying on the floor helpless and you and Irvine will have to fight them alone.
Boss: Iguions These are fairly easy and have only 1619 hp apiece. First and foremost draw the GF Carbuncle from them. You may want to draw some Esunas if you're lacking them, as they're essential for this fight. The Iguions use an attack called Magma breath which turns you to stone after a countdown, when this happens use an attack then use an Esuna to cure it. A few GF's will take care of these, however you may want to use water on them, as this is what they're weak against. Finally their only other powerful attack is Resonance, which can damage accuracy and remove about 300hp, but just cure or cast protect.
Once this fight is over Rinoa will cling onto Squall and tell him she was scared, now go into the room with the red carpet past where the president is and confirm on the hatch near the right wall. Once in the clock confirm on the rifle and there will be another cut scene in which Irvine gets ready to shoot the sorceress (or is he losing his nerve?)
After this scene you will regain control of Quistis, so junction exchange to quickly give people back their GF's etc. and continue along the path. Pass through the gate at the end, turn left and walk through another gate. Attempt to climb the ladder and it will fall, creating a bridge over to the other side, cross it and walk along the other side of the sewer, and open the gate at the end. Carry on to the end and walk over another bridge where there is a draw point containing some Esuna Spells. Head back to the fallen ladder and walk across. Continue along the path on the left and walk around the corner opening the gate to the North. Continue in this direction and walk over another small bridge, then through the gate to the right. Continue along the path then cross over the bridge, you'll need to go back on yourself here to go to another draw point containing Zombie spells. Go back along the path, turn right and walk to the end, here you'll discover a draw point containing Bio Spells so stock up and head back to the bridge then climb onto the water wheel in the centre to jump down. Follow the path around and go south. Walk to the end and use another wheel to jump down to the right. Go south again and through the next gate, use another wheel to jump right and continue to head south until you eventually find yourself near the point where you entered the sewer. You can knock down the ladder to go back a cross and up the very first ladder to save if you want then return (if you do you can simply cross the new ladder-bridge to get back to where you just was), if not proceed to open the gate on the right. Continue along the path and use a last wheel to jump to the centre. Go north and you'll find a save point and a ladder to freedom.
You'll get off the ladder on the 1st floor but you cant go through the door here (you can junction pass to Squall, Rinoa and Irvine here if you want so you can just get straight on with the final boss when it comes down to it, seeing as you wont have any more random encounters with these three for the rest of this event. Plus you have to use Squall, Rinoa and Irvine against Edea.) So get back on the ladder and choose the option to Go Up. Zell will look out of the window; the clock ticks 20:00. Just in time to hit the switch, to do this go to the phone-like contraption on the wall and confirm. Now you'll get an FMV of the gates closing on Edea. The scene will switch to Squall and Irvine. Irvine has cold feet so Squall convinces him to shoot. Another FMV showing the shot, which Edea stops before the bullet makes contact. Now you get an option to Junction everyone (if you didn't before) make sure you Junction Rinoa and Irvine as well as Squall as they will come into this fight to. There'll be an awesome FMV of Squall crashing a car into the Gates (and Seifer looking wrongly smug and confident). Now you'll have to fight Seifer alone.
Boss: Seifer Lvl 20 Hp 1150 He's not a hard boss at all, in fact just cast protect and shell on yourself for better-safe-than-sorry's sake. Then hit him with a GF or two to finish this battle swiftly and to proceed with Edea. Sefier will cast Fira on you as well as just physically attacking you. If you have the mug ability use it to steal a Hero from him. Cure your character before your second GF and if that doesn't get rid of him, before your third to make sure you're good-to-go for Edea, who you'll have to fight straight after.
Boss: Edea 6700hp Lvl 19 In this fight Rinoa and Irvine will run up and join you. There isn't much point using Carbuncle here as Edea will Dispel Reflect and if you've took the trouble to cast shell on yourself, she'll take that with it. However she doesn't dispel Shell if it's cast on its own. Cast double on your magic casters and using these double-cast shell on everyone, then get to working the GF's to pummel her, it's a good option to have two people using GF's and one double caster using Cure and Cura on you. Double cast Thundara and other if you wish but GF's are much more effective because as you'd expect a sorceress has a high magic resistance. Just keep doing this and replacing your Shell when it wares off until she falls. Now you'll see yet another beautiful FMV in which Edea fires what looks like ice shards at your characters for her last ditch effort to harm you. Rinoa and Irvine dodge but one hits Squall in the shoulder and he falls off the parade float to Rinoa's anguish.
