Final Fantasy VIII Walkthrough – Liberate Dollet
Head back to the entrance of the cave and to the Garden. When you arrive Quistis will tell you about "taking care" of your GF's, about AP learning etc. Then she'll tell you to change into your SeeD uniform and meet her again in the lobby. Head there now though and look at the directory, there you can be "teleported" to your dormitory. Go in and change then save at the save point. Leave and head down the corridor. When you reach the end you will miraculously appear in the lobby. Talk to Quistis and she'll tell you about your partner for the mission, now Zell will appear in an impressive, back-flipping FMV form. She also mentions that Seifer will be your squad leader for the exam and Headmaster Cid will appear and wish you good luck.
Now follow Seifer and you'll be in the car park; there'll be a cut scene in the truck, when this is over you'll get to drive it on the world map. Read the instructions and follow the path until you come to the town, just drive into it. At the port area there'll be a cut-scene and you'll need to board the ship. As you travel across the ocean you'll see Xu who will explain that the town has been under attack for 72 hours and what you're required to do for your mission. Seifer will "order" you to go up onto deck, it is infuriating but do what he says and you'll see a really nice FMV of all the ships arriving at the beach, well worth a look.
When you arrive at the beach Quistis will tell you to secure Dollet Central Square, so junction yourself and leave the beach, then head up the stairs, save your game and follow Seifer through the town. You'll encounter soldiers at various points before reaching your destination, they're a piece of cake and very useful to Draw from. When you arrive Seifer will ask you to check out the area for more troops so head up the right alley and a soldier will jump you. Now return to the square and wait. Seifer will eventually become annoyed with a cute dog near by and as the scene progresses you'll see some soldiers not-so-sneaking off behind you and you will decide to follow them despite orders.
Follow the path and you'll see Dollet soldiers lying wounded on the floor, talk to them if you want for they'll all tell you to go to the Communication tower, carry on and you'll have to talk to a man on the floor, he'll also mention the tower but when he's finished he'll yell and you'll have to fight an Anacondaur, these are fairly easy, draw anything useful from it and pummel it, there's no harm in using a GF either to finish it quickly. You will also learn a little about EXP distribution in this battle (the person who deals the finishing blow receives a little more than the others).
As you carry on among the path you will continue to endure random encounters until you come to the tower. Seifer will leave you for the Communication Tower and Selphie (the tour girl) will arrive in a short FMV and join your team. You can either jump over the ledge can or go around the long way, the long way you'll be quizzed about the easiness of jumping over a cliff and you can scorn the dangerousness of it in reply. Either way, head inside and stock the blind spells from the draw point, save it and head up in the lift. When you reach the top you'll see a cut scene involving Biggs making the final repairs, when he's finished you'll see an FMV and will be in for an epidemic of a battle
Boss: Biggs and WedgeYou'll start this battle fighting Bigg's alone, Draw some Esunas from him and deal him some heavy damage with your GF's and pummel away at him until Wedge arrives. Use GF's again here to deal damage to them both to get them out of the way for the next boss quickly. You may want to draw some Cure spells and Lightening for the next battle. After a while these two will be "sucked" away and replaced by a shiny new boss
Boss: ElvoretHP: 3300 Draw the GF Siren from him right off the bat here as this is really useful and you may be too distracted a little further into the battle. Secondly ensure that you absorb plenty "Double" Spells and cast them on at least two of your characters so you can cure everyone really easily once Elvoret has used his Wind attack which took Biggs and Wedge from battle. This guy does have a high magic resistance but use your GF's anyway because they in turn deal more damage than three physical attacks do so have everyone use these at the same time, curing in between to beat this boss.
Once this battle is over Selphie will finally get to give her message to Seifer. She will inform you that you have to be at the beach by 1900, which is in half an hour! The clock will start to tick so head swiftly over to the lift (you'll need every second trust me). When you go into the lift you see another cut-scene (this is annoying as the clock still ticks through it) when this has finished save at the save point (you don't want to have to do those bosses again trust me) and leave, you will probably encounter a few battles here as you get pounced on like every three steps so (and I wouldn't normally advise this but...) run away from them. Once outside you'll be attacked by X-ATMO92
Boss: X-ATMO92 This is really annoying because it can repair itself and will chase you all the way to the beach. Here is where your lightening spells I've been advising you to Draw come into play. Withdraw some protects in your first few moves and then cast Double on yourselves. Only use Quezacotl here because GF's use valuable time and lightening is really the only overly effective spells here anyway. So double-cast lightening, healing when necessary until Zell tells you to run, Do this by holding L2 + R2.
Once you have run, proceed to the beach. You will be cornered several times by the monster, but if you use Quezacotl at the end of your battles you can hold L2 + R2 through the GF sequence and flee as soon as possible which will therefore give you more time to flee and reduce the amount of times you have to fight this monster. When you reach the beach you'll see a stunning FMV of the monster pursuing you as you run to the ship, in it Quistis will fire a machine gun at it and save you from the monster.
When you're back at Balamb town Quistis will tell you that the time is your own until results so wander the town. Go into the hotel and save at the save point up the stairs. Then head over to the draw point you saw coming in, there you'll see Seifer taking the car back to the garden and will decide to walk. So leave the town and head over to the garden. Now may also be a good time to set your GF Siren to learn Move-Finder, this will allow you to find hidden draw points.
