Final Fantasy VIII Walkthrough – White SeeD and The Journey to Esthar
The white seed ship is in the water in the continent right above where you are now. If you look at the map you'll see a continent, which looks like it has a hole in the middle of it, this is where the white SeeD ship is. So if you follow the coast of this continent you'll find a small gap of low lying land which is just wide enough for you to fit through, the ship is near there.
Approach the ship in the garden and you'll appear on board, once there the ship's captain'll approach you. You'll explain what you want etc but he wont believe you and will tell you to leave, ignore him and explore the ship, at the back you'll find Zone and Watts talk to them and follow Zone up to the steering cabin, if you got the Girl Next Door magazine you can give it to him now. Either charge him 25,000gil or give it for free to receive a Shiva card and a rename card. Once you've finished exploring save at the save point and talk to the captain in his cabin which is near the save point and to the right.
Once inside talk to him and he'll believe you once you show him the letter, stock on some Holy Spells then talk to him again and he'll tell you about Ellone, it turns out she's been taken to Esthar. Once he's finished you'll be back on the Garden and Quistis will tell you that there's a train line that used to run from Fisherman's Horizon to Esthar, choose a party of three and talk to Nida. Once on the world map don't head directly North East from the Ship to get there because from this direction you'll be approaching it from behind and due to the train line running at the back and blocking the way you wont be able to enter the town from the back. Instead go all the way south around the world so that you pass by Edea's house, then the northern continent, then Balamb town until you reach it. Approach it in the garden and Squall will take Rinoa into town on his back.
Walk through town with her and part way you'll see a really cute scene in which he talks to Rinoa, turns out he cares about her more than he thought :). After this you'll carry on until the train station where you'll see everyone and find out that Edea needs to go to Esthar to and will therefore become a party member; her normal attack is not physical but magic and is quiet strong therefore making her a good team member to have once you've junction exchanged her with someone else. After everyone heads east over the track you'll return to the world map outside a train station near where Esthar is supposed to be, but its not there!
Continue up the world map until you see a sort of white crater that used to be a lake. Enter it and the team will decide that this is the only way to go. Proceed into the lake then up the skeleton on the right hand side. Follow the path right and hit X to jump down, carry on until you see a draw point containing some Meteor spells then over the bridge until you come to a road with two directions, to the right is a save point so save then head left. As you proceed a creature will jump up from the pits and attack you
Boss: Abadon This monster is at level 34 and has 17010hp but he's not too tough because he's a zombie. Hit him with Cura/Curaga along with Holy and Alexander summon and he'll go down easily (also if Leviathan has learned recover it will be very useful in this fight), don't waste your full-life spells trying to kill him in one though as these miss. For good measure bring out Cerberus or cast triple on someone, then triple cast Protect and Shell. In this fight Abadon will adopt two different stances, when he's crouched he can be damaged by spells and physical attacks; he will physically attack you more often than not. When he's stretched however it's a different story, he can barely be harmed - physical attacks take off approx 10hp or something about that and GF's don't do much better. He will constantly cast status ailments on you in this position such as Silence, Confuse, Darkness and Curse luckily for you can draw to cast Esuna spells on yourselves. When he's in this stance concentrate on healing and using Esuna on yourselves as well as replacing your protect barrier and triple-casting shell. Strike when he crouches and you'll be fine.
After this fight heal yourself and carry on down the path where you'll notice the background moving strangely, look at the edge of the cliff and a door will appear from nowhere, climb the invisible ladder and continue across the bridge, enter the door at the end and climb onto the lift which will take you to the top. When you arrive you'll fall unconscious and regain control of Laguna again.
Laguna is working in the city, when the guards have gone talk to the Moomba and get his tool, after he nearly falls and you help him the man working with you approaches you about the Adel resistance, the guard returns and you tell everyone to get into the lift, Ward and Kiros will arrive with some other soldiers, junction them and fight. When the fight is over get into the lift, in the next room you'll see Dr Odine, listen into his conversation until you run out. Once outside you'll see the Moomba (probably the same one from the prison who shouted "Laguna" once you'd found Squall) and find out a little more about Dr Odine from a resistance member, turns out he's interested in Ellone so Laguna decides to go inside. Save and stock up on some Death spells then head inside, inside the room Dr Odine has vanished, search the floor for the first copy of weapons monthly then go back into the lift where you'll find Odine. When the lift stops you be back where you were working and Odine will be there, before you get to draw information from his though, you'll be attacked by some guards. After the fight he'll get into the lift, join him and follow him out past the save point. You'll corner him at a car and he'll tell you Ellone's in the O lab. After the assistants give you some weird directions you'll jump into a car and turn up outside another building. Some soldiers will enter and you'll have to fight them.
Once this is over stock some double spells from the draw point then examine the lift in the centre of the room. Ride it upwards and you'll be in a lab, walk up to the window and you'll see Ellone and despite yelling she cant hear you. Examine the control panel on the right to unlock the door to the room downstairs. Go back down in the lift, save and enter. In there Laguna and Ellone will be reunited and the scene will shift back to Squall and the others.
