Four Person in action!
This is the fun part of Final Fantasy IX, you can have up to 4 people to become your partner when battling! Final Fantasy VIII only allow you to have up to 3 which bored me a lot, don't you think you will have an easier time defeating your enemy with 4 parties? I don't know, don't ask me!

Active Time Events System
The Active Time Events system allows you to split your party so that you can search multiple towns simultaneously.

Exclamation Point!
When you're traveling through a village, an exclamation point will appear above your head when there's a possibility of secret paths or items. Kinda easy to find secret paths or items this way.

Four Slots
Every character will feature 4 slots for items - Armor, Weapon, Shield, and Accessory. Each item which is equipped to the character will give the character a special boost in statistics, there's a catch too - different weapons do different things for different people.

Floating Airship
This is also the interesting part of Final Fantasy IX, you can use "air transportation" instead of walking around the world. This "air transportation will make the world in Final Fantasy IX small. The latest of these ships is "Theater Ship Primavista". The ship houses, you guessed it, a theater. The show is extremely sought after and tickets sell like hotcakes on a cold day. Anybody who doesn't get tickets end up having to watch the show from the rooftop.
