Working on 6.39 ME-5 (untouched version)
The game can be compressed down to 288MB using UMDGen. However, you have to export the file data before optimizing, then import that file data before creating the image. Doing so will fix the freeze before title screen/after character creation.

what cfw are you using ?
it works fine on both aloader and prometheus iso loader on 6.20 TN-E :/
